Herakles - LSL stream based platform

Herakles software suite: the organizer

LSL based platform for your streams

The Herakles software suite has been designed to make friendly and easy to use the multimodal recording tasks under LSL protocol.

The suite is named Herakles because most of the time to work in a multimodal concomitant mode looks like to fight and win against Hydra or Cerberus (one body with multiple heads to take care in same time)

The Herakles software suite allows you also to create new streams from original data flow (substreams), for instance you can split into 2 or more dataflows the data coming from a single EEG 32 channels stream. In this manner you can merge each substream only with the relevant multimodal stream for each purpose (on-line or off-line mode).

The suite come with standard applicatives to link the systems but also with an homemade applicative to convert .xdf files to .csv and a specific applicative for video integrated system (timelaps is recorded into .xdf) and data in .api format.

The suite is compatible with Windows 10 or more.

The licence is digital and perpetual and linked to each PC (based on PC identifier) and not transferable to other PCs.

Only 5 steps are necessary to go to work:

  1. Define your multimodal protocol design and name (new stream) or rename (as is stream) the multiple streams.
  2. Link any stream to a dataflow coming from an hardware (ie EEG) or software (ie stimulation protocol) emitter.
  3. Set up the content of each stream (for instance if the original stream is about 32 EEG channels you can reduce to only few channels to define a new EEG stream, for cognitive workload and another for emotion metrics)
  4. Start the streaming of renamed and created streams and set up the combined recording in merging mode (.xdf)
  5. Visualize the signal
